Hi

When I am installing a new software, I get the option: " Install 'Software1' using the default applicatyion install directory".

If I choose No , I am given a new window which says: Select destination media.

In this window, I have 3 options:
1- Main Memory
2- Storage card
3- Storage

But apart from Main Memory, I cannot install the application on any other storage media. If I choose Storage card, it says "Space available: "

So any idea how I can install application on storage card

regards

Don't worry. Even though it says unavailable it really means the Installer can't get the information back from the device.

If you know there's enough space on the card, just select it from the list and it will install.

Thanks for the reply

When I check the memory for the Storage Card, it says: Free 30MB

However, when I try to install an application on the Storage card, I get this message:

"Cannot copy the destination file. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected....."

I am sure the disk is not full, but I dont know how to check for write protected disk.

Kind regards

Strange. What application you are trying to install?

There are some applications that must be installed in the main memory, and this applies to most that use Today plugins.

Also, depending on application size you might not be able to install. The installer copies the .cab file to the destination and expands it. It means you need at least 2x the space the application will need after being fully installed. A 14MB application won't fit on your 30MB space because of this.

Another possiblity is that your storage card (if not the internal ROM) is formatted with FAT file system (default for most digital cameras for example), which has a limit in the number of entries in the root folder. If you have lots of files (music for example or pictures) in the root folder and reach this limit (can't remember exactly, I think it's 500 files) then you can't add anything else, even if you have space available.

The solution in this case is to format the card with FAT32 using a utility such as Pocket Mechanic and then reinstall the applications and files you have on that card (you can copy the card to a temporary folder on your PC while connected over ActiveSync, format the card and copy the contents back).
