I checked for updates for my N86 this morning and it had a firmware update and an update for Ovi Suite, the updated firmware said that a new version of Maps was available so I installed it and the ovi suite update.

Great it has the vers 3 of ovi maps but ovi suite now comes up saying that the pc can't find the internet connection when I go to download the new maps I need.

The only option I have for downloading the maps at the moment is through the 3g connection while on the go which could end up being expensive.

Up's and down's

I've had no issues in the past using Ovi Suite to install maps - but when it comes to quality software Ovi Suite isn't without it's issues!

Its the first time I have had issues with it, I can still sync contacts photos etc but not the maps.

I have done a hard reset on the phone but that did not help either.

I managed to get it working by taking my laptop to my brothers house and use his internet connection, must be something up with telecom not letting me access nokia maps.

I have a Telecom connection and have no issue downloading the Maps using Ovi Suite.

Have you made sure you have the latest version of Ovi Suite installed?

Great. Another phone that isn't mine supported.

I paid damn near a grand for my E75, and you can be certain it will be my last Nokia with that sort of attitude to purchasers of new high end phones.

Yip the latest version of OVI suite came down yesterday no problem along with the updated firmware for phone, its just when it came to the maps that it would not download.

My brother is on xtra as well but he has the 10gb plan when we are on the all you can eat plan the landlord put us on so we would not go over a cap, I am going to get him to check our usage and see exactly how much we have used for the last few months.

I believe it must be xtra's "shaping" of our traffice that is causing the issue.

After I got home last night from my brothers house and tryed again from my connection I got the same issue that I had before so I can only say its the internet connection its the only thing I changed.

My brother was moaning his 6120 navigator was not supported yet and it was a phone designed for using the maps and GPS.

While those handsets are not supported, the cost of navigation around AU/NZ for a year is only NZ$20

mckenndk, odd issues with it not connecting to the Maps server. Sometimes the firewall can be in the way, have you made sure there's a rule exempting the Ovi Suite?

It is defently the plan we are on with Telecom Xtra, even tonight I am constantly getting cannot display webpage for sites based in NZ including the Xtra site.
All I did to get it working was take the laptop around to my brothers house and use it on his internet connection.
It started working although it was very slow (took over night to download 150mb map when at my brothers place it was 30min and he is on xtra too but not the bigtime plan).
I talked to my landlord about it but she is not tech savy and refused to check our useage and change the plan to one that did not have managed data.

So I just have to put up with it for now.
