Does anyone know how to remove standard applications from a retail version of a S60 based Nokia phone (e.g. C5)?  OR better still create a script to do it for about 100 phones?

It is really easy to lock down a computer desktop with a standard desktop. But How do you do the same with a mobile phones for dozens of people?

I know phone companies / Carriers customise what applications goes on a phone - how does the end user do the same for multiple phones? for example remove all the crap from the phone apart from Mail + Exchange connector and phone dialer and GPS?

I removed some of the rubbish apps from my N97, just go to settings > application mgr. Then I managed to fill up the main memory, think I was supposed to download maps to the storage instead of just using main memory... How to download all maps in advance?

Hi Webwat.

All map data is saved to Mass Storage. On the likes of the N97 Mass Storage could be the internal memory or a memory card. You can get the maps you need via Ovi Suite on your computer

Bluetoothkiwi, apologies for not seeing and answering this earlier...

You can remove the applications you don't want via the Application Manager and then using the BackUp/Restore feature of Ovi Suite on your computer to backup that image and then restore it to other devices.

You may not be able to remove every single thing you want as some items are hard coded into the firmware and not removable.

Its still got heaps of Mass Storage but no microSD yet. I suspect its setup wrong and may have installed into Phone Memory. Have to try getting a whole package of maps too.
