Till now, I've used the information in http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=6&TopicId=2403 in order to connect my ipaq (Windows Mobile 5.0) to internet through a SonyEricsson phone. However, as I've now been forced to change my mobile phone into a Samsung SGH-Z500, I can't figure out what cgdcont number to use in the dialing string and the "Extra dial-string modem commands".

All help is greatly appreciated!

Try using the same string as before, but adding "Z;" to the beginning...

Thanks for the quick reply! I've tried to set the following connection settings for the phone number: *99***1# and Z; +cgdcont=1,"ip","internet.tele2.se".

I'm not sure if Samsung utilizes the cgdcont profiles at all. I have no idea what to set there. Can I completely skip it? Should I write the phone number in another format? The APN should be correct. However, I might mention that the profile on the phone uses a proxy to access internet (however, this proxy setting is not compulsory). Should I use the proxy on the pda profile as well?

Thanks in advance!

Problem solved.
I used *99# as dialing string and emptied all other settings. However, I only have one internet profile setup on the phone. Will try to put two there and see how it works.

Good to know it's working. I would have thought you were using the *99# before with the old phone as well?

*99# without any number (as in *99***3# for instance) is the default profile.

Thanks for the info regarding the difference between *99***x# and *99#! Is there a certain standard that these products follow when setting up communication of the mentioned kind?

Last night, I deleted all the internet profiles on my mobile phone - I couldn't even surf through the phone's own web browser. Despite this, I managed, without any problems, to connect to internet from my pda. The pda communication profile doesn't even include an APN setting (as I'm using an empty string in the advanced settings' "Extra dial-string modem commands" field).

How is that possible?
