I have a Windows Phone 7 mobile and its driving me mental, i want to setup my exchange mail but it wont let me do it without the domain entered, but i dont need to enter the domain on my iPhone and if i do enter it is dosent work... anyone know how to get around this.

what's the exact error message that you receive on the device?

sometimes, some companies use an alias as well for their domain.

The error message is 80072EE7

"make sure the server info in the account's settings is correct, and that you have a data connection."

Ive used the same settings millions of times with iPhones but just with out any domain name. WP7 wont let me do it without a domain name

Is your account a username or a username plus "@domain"? If it looks like an email address then you don't need a domain, otherwise you will need it.

Nothing new on Windows Phone 7, it was like this on Windows Mobile before.

on the iPhone i set it up like this

server was: remote.blahblahblah.local

user name was: sales

password: ******

no domain name at all, it had the field but we entered nothing.

I believe that doesn't look like a FQDN for it to work outside of the network. The domain/server needs to be accessible from the Internet, hence FQDN and hence a domain/server name so it can find it over the cloud.

How you got it to work on iPhone whilst on cellular network for OTA synching; I don't know.

Internet is my backyard...

100% worked on the iPhone, i can access it through a web browser also at:

https://remote.ourdomainname.co.nz

like chiefie mentioned, WP7 needs a domain when connecting via EAS (exchange active sync). Best to speak with your system admin at work.

step 1 - sell Win7 phone on trademe

step 2 - buy iphone

step 3 - it just works

failing that if you are using a self signed cert then email it to a webmail account, download it to your phone and install. I think that should work.

Had iPhone, to boring and plain. Wouldn't go back, im sure it will work somehow but i have already tried emailing it to myself, didn't work.

setup hotmail or gmail on your wp7 device. email the certificate to your self on your personal email address as .CER file. open attachment on wp7 and it will ask you to install the cer. say yes. reboot and all setup.

make sure you reboot the phone after you have installed the certificate.

if you have the certificate already on your pc, just rename it with .cer externsion. e.g sample.cer

or you mean to say that you want to import the certificate from your exchange account to your desktop?
