Good to see the Samsung Omnia W coming to New Zealand... Shame only one network.

I am really glad that Vodafone went ahead with the Samsung Omnia W than the HTC radar or the LG offering of new windows phone 7.5 devices. Much better looking and much better specs. I hope both Vodafone and telecom score the Nokia Lumia 800 when it's released here in NZ.

Do whatever you want to do man.

If its a good quality and sharp screen that will be fine. The key is the hardware, and the usability of the WP7.5 OS

Vodafone's marketing department should really be updating their 'coming soon' page then? http://www.vodafone.co.nz/coming-soon/

I"m tempted by this one

Yip, I'll probably be picking this one up (hopefully they release it sooner rather than later).

Apparently, it may have a Gorilla Glass screen too --> www.wpcentral.com/does-samsung-focus-s-and-flash-have-gorilla-glass

I emailed the Business Support Team today - apparently the handset team don't have a date for the Omnia W yet.

Which sucks. Guaranteed buy for me. Providing Voda don't add a premium on price.

Thanks for the heads-up. I hope voda stick to their late Nov date and don't push it out. They don't really have a reason to push it out as the phone is available and being sold in other countries so it's just a matter of getting into NZ I suppose.

I suppose if worst comes to worst there's always Mobicity :-)

Just gave both Vodafone and Samsung a call to see what the story is with the release date. Both companies do not have a release date yet, with Vodafone saying to keep an eye on the 'Coming Soon' page on their website -- https://www.vodafone.co.nz/coming-soon/ -- and Samsung saying if it doesn't drop by the end of the month it will be available by the 2nd week of December at the latest :-/

When is this device being released Vodafone? Was suppose to be late November as per the press release and now we are into the 3rd week of December. My boss is looking at going iPhones from the current blackberry's infrastructure. We need Vodafone to sell a Windows Phone device for me to convince him to go Windows Phone. You really want to see billgates holding an iPhone?

I had a chat to Vodafone customer services on Tuesday (14/12/11) and they said they still didn't know when it will be released and to give Samsung a call.

I gave up waiting for them to pull each others fingers out and bought an HTC Radar online via Digi Parallel Imports, but I guess your situation doesn't really allow that type of action.

Good Luck :-)

It does seem to be extremely difficult to get confirmation from anyone about future WP7 releases to the NZ market.  The impression I get from other forums is that Oz is also not fairing much better at the moment either.

I was talking to a vodafone sales guy in their Sylvia Park store (the actual vodafone owned store, not the middle-of-the-mall 'island store' operated by Digital Mobile under Vodafone colours).

He wasn't much better, but did point out that they have the Samsung model and a 'sorry, no stock available right now' sign displayed in store.  He said he has been told to expect stock in late January.

The whole thing has been handled poorly.

Voda make an announcement in October claiming to sell a device in November, then fail to deliver and go completely dark.

The vodafone customer service people point you to the coming soon page which appears to be updated once every month or two.

I understand if this is Samsung's issue - but why was it ever announced in the first place.

If it wasn't for the fact that I have vouchers (vodafone and westfield) to buy this phone I would have one already from another supplier.

I get the impression from the response at some VF outlets, not all the sales staff are totally aware of the WP7. On a recent call VF to check availability of new generation models, I was put on hold for quite a number of minutes and finally suggested I consider an iPhone. When I questioned that this would not work with the new Windows OS, the sales person was not aware of the difference.

I can't help feeling also that the VF website itself is less than helpful when the link which is supposedly to provide the reader with more information on the HTC Trophy 7, instead opens a page advertising ......  iPhone 4s, 3GS and Nokia N9.  Maybe this is partly the reason for confusion by some of VF's own sales staff.  In fairness VF do provide links to the Microsoft website for more Windows Phone 7 information, including which phones are currently available in NZ. This is quite useful, because it is here that it becomes apparent that VF have actually sold out of the HTC Trophy, information which rather strangely does not seem to be on the VF 's own website.
