Seeking to replace my work phone. The prime is Samsung Galaxy S II. My Nokia N8 has HDMI output but is the wrong OS, maybe the Nokia WP offering, or maybe an existing, ideally WM 6.5 device out there has it?

A quick Google showed that Acer M310 will have it. http://www.google.co.nz/search?gcx=c&ix=c2&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=windows+phone+hdmi+output

Thanks, I should revise this, is there a Windows Mobile or Windows Phone device that currently exists that people can confirm have HDMI output.

The problem with google and Wiki is that there are inconsistent claims in regards to what has and does not have HDMI (in the Android space Wiki claims that Galaxy S has Type D HDMI, where it does not, but may have MHL, again, unable to confirm as the people I know who have an S, do not have a MHL adapter).

Windows Mobile 6.5 is my preference as this has SMSsync.

If Android is an option then the Lg Optimus 2x has hdmi out using a micro hdmi port. I've got one myself and have used it with a generic micro hdmi to hdmi cable so can confirm it works and can answer any questions you have on it.

As far as this sms sync you talk of; three of the first four results on google search are for an android app called SMSSync, it's an sms gateway program, does that sound right? The only Ms one seems to be a text message backup program, there are plenty of those on android for backing up to various different destinations (gmail account, sd card, haven't really looked more than that as they cover my needs.)

Android is a possiblility, looking at Galaxy S II, it does have SMSsync (Sync SMS in picture) and supports my BlueTooth Keyboard and Mouse, and is available on Telecom, but don't like the MHL connector.

Being on Telecom does limit your current options unless you are fine with parallel imported phones.
GsmArena have these phones listed as having hdmi and being compatible with Telecom's network.

One of them may take your fancy, I've not owned or used any so cannot say how the hdmi out works for each but they do not mention the Galaxy S II in the list as it uses the MHL usb adapter so I can only assume they all have true hdmi ports.

Good use of the search engine. I have an N8 currently (I won't discus that mess here). Tried a Sony Ericsson Arc and it was promising except it did not have HID support for BlueTooth mouse.

I'm not keen on another Paralel after the N8 experience. I'm not a rooter either.

To put this in context I'm wanting to use a phone as a mobile thin client (RDP), hence the HDMI, Keyboard & Mouse requirements.

Also ruled out LG based on the lack of BlueTooth HID on my P500h.

iPhone 4/4S with Digital A/V adapter (HDMI) can do that, 4S + Apple TV2 can do AirPlay Mirroring. Just add Bluetooth keyboard (not sure about mouse though) - with this you can get by most of the usage I reckon.

But all depend on how picky with your taste towards the setup - however I said, it is doable.

I had no idea the iPhone 4 had a HDMI adapter, that is so very close as I have confirmed the keyboard on one earlier.

ps. HTC is eliminated due to my experience with JasJar, Touch Diamond and now Trophy

The Digital A/V output will depend on the app's support for it though. YMMV.

Sadly, iPhone 4 was not interested in the mouse, never mind.

It looks like the gingerbread update allows Hid use on LG devices from my tiny bit of googling, that is expected this month and by the sounds of it is rolling out currently for the optimus 2x, I don't have a bluetooth mouse or keyboard to test it with unfortunately.
I will however be checking if gingerbread is available for my phone when I get home.

My LG Optimus One (Telecom issue) upgraded to Ginderbread (2.3.3) last night and HID support (neither mouse nor keyboard), which is what triggered this thread. Although, my confidence in delivery of updates from the WP7 is equally low, hence looking at the the WM 6.5, it's pretty much stuck where it is, so if it has these features, great.
