jtbthatsme: Region free has been there for a wee while but being able to use it in non release markets is good (not that we're a non release market).
I find it funny that a lot of people are still writing the X1 off and going to just start out straight away saying PS4 is the better. Other than marginally better specs what is it about the PS4 that's doing it for you???
Surely you can't buy that lovely little promo clip of game sharing on the PS4 where the guy passes the disk over as although that was funny it isn't really that relevant anymore. You can still pass a disk around but it doesn't mean you'll have full functionality of the game on the disk. This is especially true of multiplayer online games. Where both platforms will require paid online subs for these to take place.
Personally I find that great and a good way for games makers to help get something in return for the 2nd hand market as well. Paying for a online pass past the original purchaser is brilliant.
I'm more keen to see what both companies have to say at Gamescon this week as although MS surely stuffed their launch up creating a lot of confusion causing them to uturn or change some policies. I wouldn't think that Sony's silence is always a good thing either. They could aslso be sitting there going oops but not so in the open eye.
I'd like both consoles if money wasn't a issue and for me it is so I will stick to one for now but like I said earlier until they're out and been out for a while no ones knows just which will perform best and a true gamer won't just have the one anyway as why would you want to limit yourself to only one platforms titles.
I download all my games now anyway, so I don't care about the 2nd hand market at all.
However, for me the reason for PS4, aside from specs and a couple of exclusives that look vaguely interesting, comes down to the approach Sony have taken with the market. It feels more like they tend to do what customers actually value, and then think of a way to make it profitable, rather than do what is profitable and try and shoehorn that into something customers might want, which is how it feels microsoft act.
take PS+ for example. Even if you don't care about online gaming (which I don't) it is still incredible value. Vastly better than XBL.
...and it's $100 cheaper than XB1 (yeah, you get a kinect, but I value that at about $0)
