So, I have tried a few things on the Xbox. Without a next gen game to play hard to judge, but I did spend 90 minutes last night playing Doom Eternal. Not one stutter, shudder or slowdown. Buttery Smooth is an understatement. There is obviously oodles of grunt on this thing.

Now my PS5 has arrived, I am unsure it will get much attention for a bit, but it's nice it's so quiet.

Well if you get bored it with the Xbox, I'm happy to take it off your hands :D

I have my series x lying down and left the controller on top overnight and it has marked the finish of the Xbox.

Call of Duty released today!

I had pre-installed it, all 138 odd Gigs of it LOL

I'll fire it up this afternoon.

My son fired up Gears 5 yesterday, that looks really detailed and smooth! The good old days of horde!

I had to re-read that a few times.  At first I was reading it like "... this event marked the finish of the Roman Empire"

Anyone else stuck waiting for the second shipment of series-x in December? Sucks big time. Though I feel very lucky to have a PS5 in the meantime. Also I saw CoD warzone and MW got a silent 120fps update from Activision which I thought was curious. The speculation is they cant make a big deal about it because of their deal with Sony. MW/Warzone does not have 120fps yet on PS5 either.

Thought I was stuck waiting, but managed to pick up my Series S on Friday.

Hadn’t heard anything from Noel Leeming and their online help couldn’t tell me anything more than “the store will email you when it is ready for pick-up”, so I thought I’d drop into the store at lunchtime and just ask them.

The staff member I spoke to originally told me the same thing, but when they went out back to check they came back with the Xbox. So either my order had a hiccup in their system, or they just had a few units and took pity on me.

Be careful with warzone of you want the disc version. Apparently there's two versions out there, one is the Xbox one version that works on the series X via backwards compatibility, the other is the series X version that also works on the Xbox one. The latter costs more but both copies have all consoles listed on the box. Not confusing in the slightest.

The good version has the series X logo on the front and says series X first. The other one has Xbox one listed first and lacks the logos. How Activision and/or MS are getting away with such confusing packaging I don't know. I don't even think retail outlets are fully aware of the differences when putting discs back in the box.

Microsoft says xbox supply shortages will continue until at least April. So if you didn't get in the second pre order wave in December. That sucks I guess lol

Interesting item just received: LG OLED and Xbox Series X.

LG Electronics (LG) and Xbox have entered into an exclusive marketing partnership to highlight the gaming experience of the widely-anticipated Xbox Series X console and LG OLED TV in key markets across Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

Participating countries include New Zealand and Australia as well as Austria, Belgium, Czech, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

LG OLED TV becomes the official TV partner of Microsoft’s new console in these regions with special events held at participating retail locations to provide consumers with the opportunity to experience for themselves the sheer exhilaration of gaming on LG’s 2020 OLED TV models and Xbox’s latest console.

The combination of LG’s most advanced TV and Xbox’s most powerful console ever allow both casual and serious gamers alike to enjoy next-generation gaming today. With features such as an ultra-fast 1ms response time with low input lag and support for the latest HDMI specifications including Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and enhanced return audio channel (eARC), games not only look and sound better, they’re more responsive. With four ports ready to support these features, LG’s OLED TVs offer all the advantages of simultaneous connections for multiple gear set-up from consoles to PCs.

The advanced combined processing power of the duo enables players to enjoy 4K gaming at up to 120 frames per second to take advantage of the latest advancement in real-time ray tracing graphics technology. LG’s 2020 OLED TVs are the first to support the new HGiG profile and as founding members of the HDR Gaming Interest Group, LG and Microsoft are confident that the latest HDR titles will look exactly as their developers intended.

With its self-lit pixel technology, LG OLED TV boasts superior picture quality with vibrant, natural colours and infinite contrast. And as the first TV and the first game console to support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, LG OLED TV and Xbox Series X will draw gamers even deeper into the action with dynamic images and sounds.2

And because eye fatigue from gaming is a real thing, all of LG’s 2020 TV models feature OLED panels that are Eye Comfort Display certified by TÜV Rhineland, meeting every one of the high criteria set by the international testing firm. The certification indicates that the TVs are flicker-free, emit the minimal of blue light and deliver a wide colour gamut, excellent HDR performance and consistent picture quality when viewed from a wide-angle. For even more eye comfort assurance, LG OLED TVs are also verified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) as flicker-free and low blue light-emitting, posing no photobiological hazard.

“We take the needs of gamers very seriously when developing our OLED TVs so to be able to be an official partner to Xbox Series X is a partnership that is very meaningful to us,” said S.P. Baik, head of the TV product planning division of LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “We’re confident that the heightened visual quality from combining LG OLED TV and Xbox Series X will blow gamers away.”

Picked up my pre-ordered seaGate expansion card yesterday from Noel Leeming.

It does have some weight to it! Anyway, plugged in while the console was in standby and it didnt appear. Had to do a complete reboot for it.

Size available, out of the box was 919Gb available. There is the option to format it, but I left as is. Not used it yet.

And on the note of the TV, is it all the LG line up or just the CX model which is the go to?

Only the OLED range, since bar the BX having only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports and the less powerful Alpha 7 Gen 3 processor, they all share the same hardware and panel.

It's really just a fancy bit of marketing saying "Look, our specs match up with the Xbox Series X"

Anyone see the digital foundry AC: Valhalla PS5/Series-X comparison video? 15% better performance on PS5. Very weird. A lot of people speculating that Ubisoft got the Xbox SDK quite late compared to Playstation and didn't get much time with it to optimize the game.

The general consensus is there's differing hardware, Sony seemingly didn't wait for the full amd rdna2 feature set and implemented someof their own stuff instead while Microsoft waited for AMD to do the full package. The result was Sony finished their spec sheet earlier and as a result got the dev kits out sooner. I wouldn't be surprised to see the ps5 do better for a time but with full rDNA2 featureset the Xbox and pc should align really close to start to deliver slightly better results eventually.

Ebgames in Aus are saying second shipment consoles will be delivered next week. Wonder if that's the same for us.
