Good to hear your Gotcha connection is finally improving.

I did some trash trades for tiny rats with my son this morning and ended up with some useless lucky Rattata. We're really hoping his trade of an August 2016 Jynx for one of his Aunt's spare shiny Zapdos becomes lucky. He didn't get any shiny Zapdos during the raid day, so it would be awesome if he ended up with a lucky one.

The new swoop around when you tap a pokemon to try to catch it surprised me when I first saw it.

Yeah, it's a bug that's been on iOS for a while (one or two updates ago?) but at least on an iPhone you can disable it by turning off AR+ in the game settings. You might be able to fix it by removing camera permissions altogether, although I suspect that may not work. I don't understand how instead of fixing it this time around, they gave it to everyone. I realise they are unlikely to do UAT on every single little function of the game, but surely encountering a Pokemon would be one of the few things they should check is still working each time.

LOL - I think you might be the only one, judging by the amount of complaining on Reddit :) It causes people to miss the sparkle animation which is upsetting a lot of people (especially those who are colourblind). It makes me motion-sick, so I'm glad I can turn it off.

The Johto event has exceeded my expectations. I had hoped for a nice, diverse spawn pool (with plenty of things that can evolve in Gen 4 and that were already shiny), increased Gen 2 babies in eggs, special boxes and new shinies. So far, we've had everything but the eggs - and I'm yet to pick up enough to check that one. The special boxes appear to be very good value. Going to need those raid passes for Moltres day! It's good to have the Celebi quest to do, as well. Looking forward to all the challenges.

Soooo many quest tasks to catch 3 Sunkern. :-/

But up to stage two of the Celebi quest already thanks to stumbling across a RegiSteel raid on my lunch walk.

The additional of all the new shinies and the increase of Houndour/Snubbull is great; though with the Android camera squirl, it is hard to tell if you have a shiny with the Pokemon that only have a very slight variation.

Based on the leaked text and what has been reported, there doesn't seem to be a major task in the research rewards like evolving a Gyarados that will keep many people from completing the Celebi quest line quickly .. but no rush to complete

Latest update has nerfed the game running for more than about half an hour in the background. A previous update earlier in the year did that also. But it's been stable again since. So now my GoPlus run sessions I need to be aware of if it stops vibrating so I can stop running, open up the phone, start the game back up and then carry on. Used to be able to easily complete my run without it shutting the game down.

Also will need another 3 "new" friends for stage two of Celebi. Happy to return the favour for anyone on here that also needs that. I suspect most people in their local groups have already added "everyone" they know when friends first was enabled.

I was using the Nexus 5X when they first changed something (March 2017?) .. I would be walking around and would find my GoPlus getting "angry".
I was convinced it was actually a 2D issue (you can probably find my old threads around the forum) as I borrowed a work Samsung on the Vodafone network and didn't have the issues.

When the Nexus 5X died I got a Huawei P10 Lite and didn't experience the issue, but I returned when I replaced it with my current phone (LG G6)
As a result, I use an app called Wake Lock and set it to Partial Wake which allows me to lock the phone screen and still use the GoPlus (and now Gotcha)

Three - it took a good amount of luring and walking around to get them. Tapped on what felt like hundreds. I'm having a stressful week trying to help my son manage his XP gain so that he hits L40 with his Celebi catch. He needs to do it before we start raiding on Moltres Day or that'll push him over the limit. Basically, he has to stop playing now, bar the spins, catches and evolves still left on his Celebi quest, and level up two Ultra Friends with lucky eggs, and it'll get him to within about 10k, which he will get when he completes stage 7/8 and catches Celebi. I really hope there are no accidents. I've made a spreadsheet to try to manage it, lol.

Need a couple of new Pokemon 1friends, are there any good ways to find them? I suppose looking out for people doing raids might be one.

It did seem to take a lot more for me to get the first; the second came pretty quickly and since I had received a male/female pair I stopped looking. Certainly not as plentiful as the other Global Research shinies.

Sounds like a painful way to get to Level 40 - personally I would just go with the flow and when it happens, it happens.
I'm coming up to my year anniversary of being a Level 40 (September 17th; when mass evolving for XP was still a thing)
