Taillow is pretty common around these parts, so although I haven't found a shiny one yet, I am not too bothered. Same with shiny Zigzagoon, of which I found one. Managed to get two shiny ducks. We were sitting at the lights and my sister said "I don't think I'm going to get one" and I looked over and noticed a couple on my phone screen (which she was holding) and I said "there's some, just tap on them" and tapped one to illustrate, and it was blue, lol. She was most annoyed about having to catch it for me while I was driving.

I'm quite happy to raid for Palkia. Sounds like it'll be a good addition to the dragon team - second behind Rayquaza, of which I didn't get many good IV specimens, despite doing 72 raids. Glad we have a month so we can relax a bit. I'm shattered after raiding all weekend for shiny Groudon (no luck). Just about to head out for a last-ditch attempt before dinner. It was really frustrating not having a raid map and when we did find eggs, having Kyogres pop out of 2/3 of them. Only managed 8 Groudon in 5 hours yesterday (and ended up driving 50km going around the North Shore in circles).

I caught a shiny Wailmer yesterday, so my shiny luck continues.

The last-gasp raiding worked (partially) last night. I got a shiny Groudon, my son didn't. But by then my sister (who seems to have ridiculous shiny legendary luck) had five, so she traded him one of hers. So tired now.

Okay, I think Niantic is about to release a new feature. The update that has begun propagating contains a badge asset called "photobomb". The version is jumping from 0.131.4 to 0.133.0, which normally suggests big changes under the hood. A lot of the Pokemon Go YouTubers have been flown to San Fransisco by Niantic for "something secret" which Zoe Two Dots then claimed was just them talking to Niantic about how they would work together in 2019. However, the previous video she'd said it was secret and Trainer Tips also mentioned his upcoming trip planned for the same day was a secret. I don't see any reason for secrecy if it's just a general planning meeting. Pokemon Master Holly just retweeted that the cure for her post-Safari Zone blues was "more augmented reality". If I remember correctly, Niantic did similar with some people just before they released PVP. I suspect AR Playground is about to come out.

Does anyone use the AR features in PoGo? I used it once and then turned it off.

I really like taking AR photos but it's so buggy that I'm too scared to do it on anything that could flee or despawn. My son lost a shiny Pinsir that way. I'd love to be able to take my Pokemon out and photograph them in interesting settings.

It kills the battery, though.

Great photos!

I did try to take an AR photo once but then I couldn't find where on my phone it had saved it, it didn't show up in the Gallery app or any of the usual places. But that was several versions ago, I should try again to see if it works.

If you're on Android, I believe there was a bug that prevented the photos from saving, but it was fixed one or two updates back.

Yup Android. Maybe I hit that bug. It was at a community day when I tried to take a snap of a Pokemon on Takapuna beach for the guys in America complaining that they couldn't get out because they were snowed in (and insisting therefore that Niantic shouldn't run community days in the winter).

So at roughly midday we saw more Gen4 Pokemon in the wild, along with evolutions from previous Pokemon and new babies

However, we also got a significant number of new moves added to existing Pokemon and some changes to moves, along with a buff to raid bosses to counter the CP changes a few months ago.
Goodbye solo T4 raids!

So it looks like weather Pokemon are back .. I am not sure if this is a good thing or not ..
The change they did that removed some weather dependant Pokemon brought in different "common trash" locally but also added Pokemon that i hadn't seen in a while.
Bringing back the weather Pokemon seems to have reversed this .. though it may differ from region to region, area to area

Yes, definitely a buff to the weather effect. I think when they nerfed it late last year (apparently in response to player feedback) they were also supposed to have improved the spawn diversity, but that was very erratic and, around here, the normal spawns soon ended up being just the same 20 trash Pokemon all the time (bar events) which made everyday gameplay unbelievably monotonous. I've noticed both are now much improved. I've seen weather-boostedPokemon in the last week that I haven't seen in ages. Cloudy weather also brought a plague of Toxicroak to my street the other day, which was cool since they're new. I've also seen other uncommon things outside of weather boosts. I caught a Chansey at my house on Thursday and Go Plussed one coming home from the supermarket on Friday. I think for areas like Auckland that get a good variety of the different weather conditions (bar snowy and foggy - even when it's actually foggy) we'll benefit from the weather buff, but areas like Arizona which is mostly just sunny might end up with the same issue they had before where they get the same things spawning most of the time. I certainly think that night should really ramp up ghost types, regardless of the weather. Just like in Minecraft when you get the zombies and skeletons coming out at dusk :)

I also think we haven't seen the full raft of changes yet. Apart from a couple of gender-specific evolutions, nothing else that happened on Friday needed the new version of the app. A few new Pokemon and essentially some tweaks to moves and raid boss HP. I'm wondering what all this rebalancing is in aid of. All the YouTubers were in San Fransisco for some kind of summit with Niantic and they even had reps from Silph Road and Go Hub there. I saw Andrew Goldfarb from IGN was also hanging out with them. Go Hub and Goldfarb got to preview PVP, so I do wonder if they got to preview the next big thing. Something prompted that big version jump and I don't think we've seen it yet. And still no proper APK teardown from Silph or Go Hub. Very suspicious.
