OK, so the Wii isn't exactly "PC gaming" but there's no forum for consoles and this is the nearest one...

Check out this SMH article about the wrist strap on Wii the remote control snapping, sending the whole thing flying around the room.

Wiihaveaproblem.com has a running tally of damages, with accompanying photographs of smashed televisions, windows, dishes and ceiling fans, among other casualties.

Does that site load for anyone? I want to see the pictures!

Throwing your remote at your TV seems just so you can join in a class action seems to have become the latest fad sport in America. Seems to mainly be people with rear projection TV's who have the problem - they obviously want a free upgrade to a Plasma or LCD!

This just proves once again that America is the land of the (mostly) stupid.
Me and my son have been using the Wii like possessed raving lunatics since it come out, we are both  having great fun and at the same time and have not managed to break anything except our regular sleeping patterns!!

We got Wii but it is still in the box... anyhow, we rented Wii for 3 days and had great time on Wii Sports. We also been visiting that site in the weeks before renting and deciding getting Wii, and must say, those people do not properly wear the straps. First off, none or very few of them have the "notch" push all the way to reduce the slack, and also Nintendo advices players to swing lightly as it doesn't require great force for motion sensors to work.

It all boil down to each individual's stupidity.

We have no problem with Wii...

p/s: if "Wii" becomes a verb... then one could say this out proudly upon asked of what they did over the weekend, "We wii-ed over the weekend! It was great fun!"... thought?

My is in a virtual box, ie plugged in but waiting for the eventual time when I'll actually have time to sit down and play Zelda.

Got a bit of Wii Sporting in over the xmas break though.  I can see why they call the Wii the everyman console...my old man mid 50s) picked up the controller and kicked my arse and golf and bowling.
