XBox live used to work great on old XBox. On new XBox 360 it won't access XBox live. Microsoft say some ports need opening?????

Kids are driving me mad. Any ideas? My router is a D-Link DSL-G604T

have you tried transferring your Xbox Live subscription over to Xbox 360? When transferring, you can use single subscription/gamertag on both original Xbox and Xbox 360 too. Check Xbox.co.nz and see how to transfer the account to Xbox 360.
