I know I could get an E3 flahser etc, but I would rather someone did it for me, I know there is a service in CHCH but can't find one in Auckland for PS3...

I'm interested to know what you want to do with your PS3 once it's modded?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

If you read the FUG, you'll most likely find he's not allowed to discuss why he wants to mod it.

As I'm sure you're genuinely interested in why he wants to, and not at all just lining up to pile on him for the reason he (probably) wants to, here's a post that discusses why someone might want to perform this mod.

Yes, it was a genuine and innocent question. I have a PS3 and modding it has never crossed my mind - just as any possibility that the whole thing might be contary to the FUG never crossed my mind.

The main reason being that I want to run a different media player on it, I find the inability to play MKV's without transcoding less than ideal.

If I had it modded then I could install one of the many alternative media players and customise my experience.

I'm also a developer and love to tinker with these things, I would probably dive down a rabbit hole and spend months making up my own firmware.

:-)
