I have recently started getting random disconnections from WoW and vent, the internet connection is still there and it lets me log right back into the game. It will disconnect me from both at the same time.

Very frustrating when raiding and it happens on a regular basis.

I've tried, updating drivers, firmware, opening various ports but no improvements.

A couple things are I have recently had to get a new modem (D-Link 504T) due to my old one burning out.

Also I notice I get a lot less d/c when I turn down all the graphic effects, and that they tend to be in the evenings even though I still have an ok connection to the internet.

So I am assuming it could be the modem?, but its also got me thinking my ISP as the other night several of us using Ihug has massive latency that made the game unplayable.

Any advice or help with this one?

Been thinking of switching from Ihug to xnet to see if it helps.

Things that you may wish to look into are:
  • Is the DSL light going out (losing sync) when you get disconnected? What do the logs say?
  • Does your modem reconnect without losing DSL?
  • Have you tried playing both of those apps on a different computer?
  • What happens if you try another modem?

Modem stays connected, its just WoW and Vent that disconnect then log right back in.  It doesn't even lag out in the game justa straight d/c.

I only really started getting the issue when I had to get the new modem, nothing else has changed on this PC.

Going to see about borrowing maybe even buying a new modem to try out.
