Hi All,

As much as I would love to blow 3K on a Razer Blade... if looking for a sub 2K gaming laptop is the Dell G3 the best all-rounder for the price?

Cheers

Depends by the time you add 16GB ram and a descent Graphics the price goes up which G3 seems to lack over m15 or G5/G7 etc.

I think it's going to be hard to get a sub-$2k laptop with dedicated graphics.  For that price you're probably looking at an MX150 or similar integrated GPU which will give you better performance over an Intel 620.  But there'll be a lot of tradeoffs - i.e. refresh rate/resolution/storage/memory/graphics - you need to decide what's important to you out of those and see what you can get within your budget that has the best compromises for your comfort.

if your not set on dell some decent MSI ones can be had for under 2k

CPU: Intel i5-9300H 4C up to 4.1Ghz
GPU: GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6
Memory: 16GB DDR4-2666 (1 Dimm)
Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD

15.6in 1920x1080 120Hz ips panel

you seem to get more for your $ from MSI than Dell, there may be a tradeoff in customer service but i have had zero issues with my MSI laptop, including one RMA for a part replacement.

Thanks Guys,

I went ahead and got the Razer 15 but had no idea how loud the machine was, have tried all the settings to silence and considered undervolting.

What is a machine of similar power that could pass for a business and gaming machine but without the noise?

Cheers

noise its just a factor, because they have such small fans that spin at high RPM. by the time you have a CPU in there at 45w and a GPU at 30+ watts that's a lot of heat to have to disipate

no noise during gaming - no such thing

no noise during business - just limit the CPU clock speed and/or set to quiet profile - recommend both for best outcome

average value i would say, your paying for the dell logo.

you can get other bands with higher refresh rate screens, better wifi etc, all little things but they add up, and this is at a $150 lower price point.

dell make a good product you just pay more for it
