...is starting to roll out globally for Android.  You need the Xbox Game Streaming (Preview) app on your phone from the Google Play Store, and you need your Xbox to be on a Preview Build Insider Ring.

I haven't got it working yet, my app on the phone says my Xbox isn't compatible.  This could be because some sites are saying you need to be on an Alpha build, and I'm just on an Omega build.  But we'll see how it goes, there's an official Reddit here where I'm sure the chatter will be helpful over the next few days:

https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxinsiders/wiki/xgspreview

and the MS site here: https://www.xbox.com/en-NZ/xbox-game-streaming/console-streaming

Haven't seen anything mentioned there about insider tiers yet.

Actually, it's recognising now.  Joining the insider programme turned off console streaming in the settings (which was on before for Windows 10 console streaming).  Enabled this and I can now run through the wizard on the phone app, though now I have to update my controller firmware before it will complete the wizard.

Working now :)

Also working over 4G externally, so I assume will work fine from any non-home Wi-Fi.  Just like the PS4 Remote Play app.

Great on Wi-Fi, comparable to PS4 Remote Play.  A bit crap on 4G of course.  But it works.

I had that problem but you can press L1+L2 + R1+R2 during the environment test and when it comes up it'll have an option to proceed even with the latency issue.  It doesn't impact playability.

It's because NZ is still quite far from MS servers.  Assume when Xcloud rolls out wider they'll have a presence in the Azure DC's in Australia, and possible point of presence in Auckland but we'll see.  But either way, the latency isn't an issue for Console Streaming as it's on an internal network at home.  It's just the initial verification that needs to test it.

I had crap on wifi directly under a unifi ap pro and using my xiaomi a3 phone.   Heaps of artifacts.  connected to xbox one x.

I then sideloaded the apk onto my nvidia shield tv (not available via playstore for that device... which is really annoying), and that worked without issue (only played 10mins so far).   will try on a mibox later today to see how that goes.

Staying in a Quest serviced apartment in Christchurch tonight.  Tried console streaming Prey from the hotel Wi-Fi, with my console in Wellington, and it never skipped a beat.  Managed to beat one of the early bosses without any lag or pixelation.  Very very cool, this is going to make travelling for work so much more bearable.

I have a carry on bag, which has a good compartment for my PS4, which has an SSD. Admittedly more weight etc, but in terms of reliability, takes connectivity out of the equation. I've taken it throughout NZ and Australia various trips. I was surprised with recent travels, how many people had consoles in their carry on. Once upon a time, I would have been the only person I saw carrying one. In the US they ask you to remove your shoes and put laptops, tablets and consoles into plastic bins. They actually mention it.

I just got back from a trip so I haven't tried this myself yet, looking forward to it.

thanks for that tip that sorted my latency issue.

must admit i am pretty impressed:

1. installed from google play onto my s8 and it works works great - using xbox one controller.

2. downloaded apk and sideloaded onto my shield and it works great as well - even if the shield controller is a bit sh*t.

3. ditto to mibox - works OK ie. graphics aren't as good - but this is not surprising seeing as its a $90 box - but is definitely playable. using mi controller in this case and its a better feel wise then the shield controller.

I cannot get past the streaming test screen. It says my ping is worse than 125ms. Yet, my Xbox is connected via ethernet and I'm on Spark fibre 100. The Aussie servers on azurespeed.com show < 90ms.

EDIT:
For me, I had to hit the following buttons, not simultaneously, but sequentially, quickly: LB, RB, LT, RT. Then "Enable Streaming" appears.
