A neighbour resurrected a copy of Super V8 race car game that had previously run perfectly on his XP machine.

We installed it on a more modern laptop running Win 10, get as far as accessing the setup screen, and get confirmation that the graphics/refresh rate is all OK.

However, every time we attempt to run it, there is a screen requesting a re-boot " … to finish installation ..", but this option just reboots and gives same message when trying to run it again.

Any ideas or clues?

Have you tried running it in XP compatibility mode? (Under properties select "run this program in compatibility mode for" and pick XP)

Try running as administrator (I know...I know!) and allow the reboot to happen.

Because I suspect whatever its trying to do to finish might need elevated privileges.

UPDATE:   Requested compatibility changes for all the executables (XP Serv 3), as well as running Install and program as Administrator …. no go!

Codemaster V8 Supercars Australia.

After a lot of digging around the 'net, seems many people have had this problem, and the simple answer is it will not run on native Win 10.

The answer seems to be either installing XP in a separate partition, or using an XP virtual app.

Will keep trying, even if for the fun of it 😀
