As there is a Geekzone guild for WoW, I thought why not do something for Guitar Hero. To this end, I've created a Tour Group called The Antipodean Geeks.

If you want to see how you rate against your GZ peers or are looking for more people for match-ups, sign up.

I am open to debate about the group name. We can come to a consensus if people put forward their suggestions.

btw, my GHWT account is Nightwyrm

Does it matter if the GHWT is for Wii, XBox360, PS3 and PS2? As we have Wii version.

From what I can tell, the GH community site works in two ways. The actual game stats from your platform of choice are loaded up to a "slot". On top of that, you have your user profile (your "account"). When you do the "link account", the website connects the slot to the account - meaning that you can connect multiple slots to your account (e.g. if you have different versions of GH on different platforms).

The Tour Group uses the state loaded into your account so technically it should be platform-independent. PvP stuff in the other hand, I'm not sure on.

This is based my my nosing around this morning and could be off, so if anyone knows better...

I might just look into this when I get my Wii online... and also take some time to get some practice in too ;)

Heh, I'm probably not that far ahead of you guys. I'm still playing the second-most basic level.

At this stage, it's probably just good to see how we're progressing against others in the group. Battles can come later :-)

On the drums, I can nail some songs on expert, but that's because I know them already on the drums - if I've heard it enough times on the radio, even in the background, I can often fluff the general gist of the song. That excludes the TOOL songs... holy hell, Danny Carrey is just  a m a z i n g !
I can cruise through most stuff on guitar on medium, but haven't dabbled much in vocals. My girlfriend usually takes the microphone... I feel sorry for our neighbours!

Is anyone else finding that if they had GH3 previously, you seem like a near god on hard on world tour now? I will admit on GH3 I had to give up on hard as I just could not progress any further!
I am loving WT though, had a big group of friends round on multiple evenings and its just done so well, especially being able to change difficulty in song.
I think I'm Pebbles17 on PS3 so give me an add too :)

I'm down, but I haven't really sorted out the online side yet.  I tried to set up an online game aew times but I never find anyone to play.  Maybe I'm not waiting long enough or maybe I need to open up some ports?

Do I need to sign up to the guitear hero website or something?

Ran  a GH competition at the end of school last year, that was good. Full lights and sound with big projector. - Those were good times. Spent 3 days just setting it all up.

Wait till I get a PS3 I will be there :)

Up to about 3/4 on Hard - GH3

You will need to sign up to the community website and do the whole linking of your gaming stats to the community account. Then you join the group.

Hey guys! Love the Guitar Hero too, but seriously you owe it to yourself to try Rock Band - its better than Guitar Hero by a decent margin.

I got Rock Band 1 & 2 from Trademe, US versions, only Rock Band 2 works with the WT drums - you import all the tracks from Rock Band 1 and you're good to go. I've downloaded Blood Sugar Sex Magik, The Color and the Shape, No Doubt the singles, some track packs (Metallica - Blackened, and Justice for All, Ride the Lightning - oh my!) and a bunch of singles. Eagerly awaiting the release of Pearl Jams Ten in March...

yea. i noticed that GH3 is much harder than WT. i can play almost all songs on expert, bar maybe the tool songs and byob...yet on GH3 i can only play the first half of the game on expert...and still cant finish dragonforce on anything higher than medium :S

and yes, RB 1&2 r better by miles...even the drums are made better...am looking @ getting rockband 2 as it has trophies :D

Get it from firstgames.co.nz if you're keen.

Be aware you'll need a US version of Rock Band 1 in order to import its tracks, and you'll need a US PSN account (just create one with a US address). Then you can go here and buy a PSN network card - the guy emails you the number (within a few minutes most times) and you're away... I have about 160 tracks on Rock Band 2 between the imported ones from Rock Band 1, downloaded tracks, and Rock Band 2 tracks - good times!

I think I'll wait for RB2 to come out here...

P.S. Don't know the details, but have you seen this?
