Hello,

I am trying to connect my PS3 to display through my computers monitor.

My understanding of it was that if my LCD monitor was HDCP compliant it was acheiveable.

I purchased an HDMI to DVI adapter from Dick Smiths and ran the RCA audio pair from the PS3 to my amp.

My monitor is saying something along the lines of "Can't display this kind of signal"

Has anyone done this? or if you have any ideas at all it would be great. I was thinking i may have to change some settings in the PS3 blindly, but i'm just grabbing at straws now :)

Here is my monitor info - Dell E228WFP

are you outputing at 720p? if you are there is a chance your monitor cannot accept 720p (ie 1280x720). if that's the case ... hmm!

Have you tried holding down the power button for a default setting?

Thanks for the help. Turns out if you hold the power button for 5 seconds the ps3 will scan for new devices insted of just looking for my TV. After a few seconds it appeared with "found new HDMI device" So i'm good now.

The output is at 720p but that's good enough for me. I can get 1080p in the lounge if i want, but i'd rather have my steering wheel bolted onto my pc desk, and my monitor on the end of my nose. hehe.

Thanks again. hopefully this thread may help others in the future.
