Are the graphics different on the ps3 40gb to the ps3 500gb?

No they are the same, just different hdd space (im fairly sure).

I think you mean PS3 slim vs PS3, exactly the same, only difference is the slim uses less power, since hte chips inside it has been shrunk :) and is more efficient
