Might actually give this game a run now.

Played it off and on since the beta, found it boring after awhile. Yes it is free, but then there are different accounts, so you can pay to get more stuff.

For me I liked the idea of running around middle earth looking at stuff but after that I lost interest. Not really after another grindfest.

It's free to download and play up to a point, yes. Further details of what the various payment schemes will get you can be found here - http://www.lotro.com/free.php?

I've been playing since launch (March '07) and have thoroughly enjoyed it as a Tolkien fan. Development had been slowing down, getting just a couple of updates last year, but I'm confident that the Free to Play model will let Turbine do for LoTRO what it did for DDO which got 4-5 major updates during the same period.

Tabuti: what server do you play on? just download last night & would like to know of any oceanic ones

Hi, sorry for the delay, been out of town.

I play on the Brandywine server, but the unofficial Oceanic server is Elendilmir. There are quite a few Australasian kins there apparently.
