hey guys, just up to level 8 (not sure how many there are)
but fear 3 is not as good as the hype suggests. There are like 5 different enemies and they are the same over and over again. also i have only used 4 different guns (lame).
fear 2 is much scarier in every way. fear 3's scary scenes are not even scary. amnesia beats scares in every dimension. level 7 was a 40minute mission, so on the plus side it has lengthy game-play. and the level up system is the best thing i have seen in the fear series. alma barely appears at all....i miss seeing her on the other side of a window, waiting to scare the socks off your feet !
haven't tried multiplayer yet, cause the game hasnt been released lol. but multiplayer practice shows that multiplayer is like zombies on COD black ops, or normal death-match (depends on mode)

Keep us updated, would like to know what you rate it say out of 10. I played Fear but was never really into the single player, for one it didn't even scare me want a scary game try Amnesia The Dark Descent, and I hated the indoors fighting going from one sky scraper to the next. Multi player was fun though.

Is Fear 3 scary?

hey man, i clocked it later on in the day after my initial thread starter.

hmmmm its hard to rate. id say it would be around the 7/10 mark.

the reasons for this.... the whole game, i used the pistol about 4 times, dual uzis like 3 times and the sub machine gun and assualt rifle for the majority of it. although sometimes you are forced to snipe. where am i going with this? there are like 6 guns (including the rocket launcher i used) in the game. now im not saying exactly 6 guns are in the game, but i only used 6. i never seen any other guns in my travels, and i did search as i got most of the alma dolls. for defence there was some huge riot shield (hint: use it to ram the blue ice dudes in the part where 3 of them come at the end)

im trying not to be too descriptive so its not a spoiler...

enemies, hmmm ice dude, shotgun dude, normal dude, sniper. thats 4 enemies, and a range of bosses.

these low numbers show how boring the enemies and guns get. its amazing though because the story is still really action packed.

the duck in cover feature has been improved, loving the swap cover and jump over cover n stuff.

melee is gay.... fear 1 and 2 had better melee. JUMP KICK SPRAY FTW

ALMA ! now i love alma, that sexy little beast. BUT , fear 3 barely shows alma.
she appeared on one ladder, and like 3 times elsewhere. LAME. fear 2 and 1 alma was trolling every dark corner.... scary.

also the random play engine seems to have gone, in fear 2 when u die, u respawn and alma comes at different times and places to provide a good scare all the time, and makes it hard to expect whats coming. fear 3, re-spawn and enemies r in same places doing the same stuff.

whats next... level up system. BRILLIANT. not too much spoilers here.... but TRY BEAT LEVEL 14 ON STORY ONLY. this is what i got, im not a boss, but gives u something to aim for i spose.

i still miss alma greatly.... keen to pop out fear 1 and 2 again.....

mech suit, the mechs are back in fear 3, and are awesome. i spoil no more, they are great !

performance, runs like a dog house on PC. its a straight port from the XBOX. i say no more, all experienced pc players know how bad ports are... hard to aim, bad frames, bad everything.

i played with a logitech G35 7.1 surround sound. FEAR 3 has AMAZING SOUNDS. it was enough to make you think HOLy..... some parts im like wow thats real ! amazing.

to end : fear 3 is NOT scary for MYSELF. after amnesia, no games seem scary at all. i remember fear 1 and 2 giving me the scares, and i ended up doing a mission a day. however, talking to my pc mates, over half found it scary but they were NEW to the fear series. there is MUCH less alma, guns and enemies are REPETITIVE. story line is action packed. and i would recommend the purchase, i just wouldnt pay $100 for it. Multiplayer i havent done, but the modes include normal combat, and some "run!" thing where its like COD black ops zombies. to clock, quite easy. you can RUSH often and use melee :D any other questions just ask, hope i havent bored you..

caps is used to highlight points if people dont want to read this all, im not yelling lol ! (thinks of first post on GZ all in caps and getting owned by mr freitasm). fear is probably much better on consoles, because the pc version definately needs a patch, so consoles might be an 8/10 rating, 7/10 for pc.

Thanks for the heads up. I enjoyed the original Fear but obviously not enough 'cos I never got the sequel. I'm all about the story so perhaps whilst I play through Fear 2 (which should be cheap by now), the 3rd installment will drop in price.
