That's what we did and plugged the the other end straight into the ONT. Five months connection. No issues.

I hope not - VDSL to ONT isn't going to work.

In the context of my post, it's about VDSL.

I will probably buy one of these VDSL SFP's, plug it into my switch, vlan it to my Cisco 887VA router and report back what I find.

Ooo keen to see how that module goes. Saw it pop up on Campbell's website, same price as a DV130 but so much tidier!

The CCR range rocks! Quite good fun trying to overwork them haha.

Warm is an understatement. They get very warm, but that doesn't seem to be an issue.

Hi Steve, so sounds like you have had a closeup with one of these, anything to report, other than temperature

Looks to me like they don't do atm.

Their support for failover to adsl would have to be 110/0

ATM is obsolete technology anyway. AFAIK ADSL connections in New Zealand now use PPPoE, though it's been several years since I last had ADSL so don't hold me to this.

I cant think of any provider that supports ptm over adsl.
Many do allow it however.

Some (spark for example) are atm only for adsl.
There is a bit of reworking required for this functionality within the core and interconnects.

I have now purchased some Mikrotik stuff and wish to try it out as soon as it arrives (expected tomorrow). I will be using the Metanoia V5311 SFP VDSL modem.

Does someone have a VDSL config for me please?

Config will be vlan 10 on interface, PPPoE/IPoE session on that interface as WAN.

Hi as far as the 5311 goes just plug it in. From what I have read it will not auto negotiate so you need to fix the port on 1gig duplex.

As for the rest create a vlan 10 and attach it to the wan port, then create a pppoe client and attach it to vlan10.

In the firewall under Nat change the outbound interface to the pppoe instance, should all work, obviously you will need to ensure the pppoe client has credentials etc.

And most importantly remember to firewall off the PPPoE client. If you don't you'll be own3d within hours by a DNS amplification attack.
