I have a Plantronics Explorer 232 bluetooth headset. It is designed for a mobile phone and is not an official Microsoft Lync headset. Is there any way I can get it working with Lync?
1. You have the Bluetooth Hands-Free paired with a Windows 7 device which has built-in or external Bluetooth support?
2. Once paired, you should see a Bluetooth Hands-Free in 'Devices and Printers' which can normally be accessed from the bluetooth icon selecting "Show Bluetooth Devices".
3. Check the Windows properties of the Bluetooth Hands-Free and make sure all the audio features are selected which are listed in the services panel of properties.
4. From the Bluetooth icon (in your task bar or desktop) you may need to open settings and select the 'Audio' panel and then connect the required audio device from there.
5. On the Audio icon in you task bar, you may need to select 'playback device' and then when the panel opens you will need to select the 'default' playback device. You should see the audio level bouncing up and down in the display in the playback panel.
6. Play some music.
If all this works then you have a basic connection.
7. If the Bluetooth Hands-Free can be enhanced with additional bespoke Bluetooth support, that would be the time to start looking for it.
8. If Windows applications (MS Lync 2010) have bespoke configurations for generic/specific Bluetooth Hands-Free, this would be the time to check compatibility.
I'm just using the example of my Stereo Audio/Hands-Free(with mic boom) as a setup example. I just use it for stereo music on my Win7 PC(s).
