I'm using a Compaq iPAQ 3850, with a TDK Systems bluePAQ, with a USB Dongle on my PC, with the Widcomm software installed (version 1.3.2.7)

What I am trying to do, is get the internet to work on my iPAQ using the LAN connection service offered by the bluetooth dongle.

So far I have had NO luck what so ever, and I was wondering if anyone had similar probs/or ideas?

The PC with the dongle, (IP = 192.168.0.42) is connected to the Internet through a Zoom ADSL Router (IP= 192.168.0.1) and I am trying to get the iPAQ to connect the same way...

I have tried numerous set ups, including changing the iPAQ to a different sub-net etc, and routing using the "route" command under XP, but with no effect.

The iPAQ will simply connect, but not find anything to view. It is pingable however.
Also, when I change the Gateway of the Bluetooth Lan Server connection to the IP of the Router (192.168.0.1) it seems to screw my Windows PC up, in that it cant view any HTTP server pages, like yahoo, and cant ping any external addresses, but can still stay on MSN (which is a mystery why to me!)

If anyone has ANY ideas, feel free to chuck them my way as I feel just about ready to chuck the thing out of the window!

Since ICS requires 192.168.0.1 and this is already in use you have no option than either create a bridge or use NAT32.

Open My Network properties, find the Bluetooth adapter, and enter an IP Address that is not conflicting. Then select both the Bluetooth adapter and your ethernet adapter, right-click and select Bridge. Make sure ICS is disabled before doing this.

Then from your Pocket PC Bluetooth Manager find your computer and create the Network Access shortcut following our guides. When you connect you'll be assigned an address (if there's a DHCP server). If you don't have DHCP enabled then you can use the Pocket PC settings Network Card to change the BTPAN IP address and DNS addresses.

If you don't have a personal firewall blocking communications this is all you should need.

I have tried bridging the two connections.

Whenever I do so, all that happens is that I cannot get onto the internet using my standard internet connection. Changing the properties of the network bridge also doesnt help!

Anyway...
Anymore ideas would be VERY useful

Strange. I tried this exact procedure today before posting the reply so I could be sure it works. Anyway, you could give NAT32 a try.

Other than that, I can only suspect that your Bluetooth adapter is still configured with an address that already exists in your network - thus causing the network to stop.
