I have bought a TDK bluetooth adaptor with software 1.3.2.19 and I am using windows xp home edition. I install the drivers but when I plug in the bluetooth adaptor a wizard pops up asking me to install drivers from cd or from specific location which is a totally different screen that TDK says you should get. When I install the driver from the cd and right click the bluetooth icon tray it says start using bluetooth and not the configuration screen which I am supposed to get. Please can somebody tell me why the drivers are being installed this way and how to get it running correctly as I cannot use my TDK adaptor.

Thanks in advance.

This is correct. The first time you plug the adapter it'll copy some drivers and the Bluetooth icon menu is only "Start using Bluetooth". If you select this option it will guide you through a Wizard where you can change configuration, name your machine, etc. Simply skip the wizard to accept all defaults.

This should only happen on the first time you plug the device.

Thanks for your reply

This does not happen for me it does not save the configuration and still keeps saying start using bluetooth in the bluetooth tray also, I have tried right clicking my bluetooth places for setup wizard when I select bluetooth device that provides that service it says click on a service to select it but it is just a white box with no options whatsoever. Its sounds like it should be simple to set up but my laptop just isnt accepting it.

I have managed to pair my ipaq h2210 but it only show an active sync connection which I cannot select as it needs to be configured as your guide shows. but nothing else sends to or form laptop to pocket pc. and it still states start using bluetooth. what else can i try?

It sounds like your Windows configuration is not ok. You can try the following:

  • create a new user in the Administrator group
  • remove the adapter, reboot and log in using the new user
  • remove the Bluetooth software
  • reboot and log in using the new user
  • install the Bluetooth software - do not plug the adapter yet
  • reboot and log in using the new user
  • plug the adapter and click Start using Bluetooth

Then you can use the older user again. If this fixes the problem, then your Windows configuration is in need of a rebuild...

    See if this helps.

It may not be a hardware problem on your computer, but it's not unheard of Windows XP user profiles going wrong after a few install/remove actions.

Another question: are you connecting it directly to your computer or to a HUB?

    Maybe this was why:-

Thank you for your email. Our latest version of Bluetooth driver 1.4.2.18 is on our web site. Please download and use this version. Ensure you uninstall the current version on your systems and replace with new version.

I will advice you to disable the block Pop-up or kill pop-up, Norton Antivirus software and Firewall before attempting to download.

Once you've disable the block pop-up, antivirus software and firewall, please try again and let me or support@tdksys.com know if you have any further problems.

I think the version 1.4.2 fixes a few installation glitches, including registry settings problems.
