Let me start by saying that I'm no expert in this area by any means, sound equipment somewhat, but wireless technology I haven't put much research into. This idea sparked me a few hours ago about simplifying what already exist. I've dealt with Bluetooth systems, and systems that require a USB Wireless Dongle to operate (wirelessly of course). Bluetooth hasn't shown me very much, the range is what like 30ft if your lucky? Now that is MY personnel opinion about Bluetooth, is seems like the further away you are the longer the lag is too. Im just not a big fan of Bluetooth. I currently have a Klipsch Pro Media Wireless 2.1 stereo here in my living room. The sound quality is great but keeping up with the USB dongle is not. I wouldn't mind keeping it in my notebook but it's like having a memory stick in all the time and gets in the way. So question being, technology advanced as it is why isn't there another option to wirelessly run a speaker system in your home. Something thats simple, and has good range. Something you can take out of the package and directly connect it to your phone/pc as simple as connecting to a wireless router. Say your playing music on your phone, let it play in the background  and slip it in your pocket while your doing things around the house. Bluetooth would drop out of range before i even went in the next room. So is something like this possible to make? Could be a new technology a lot of major companies can buy. Like a new improved Bluetooth. Something your computer/phone can pick up and have the same signal range as your home network. Without the hassle of having an external component to broadcast your signal. Simply use the standard wireless card your home computer and phone comes with.

You have basically explained what Apple Airplay is.
Just simply streaming media over a wireless (or wired) LAN. All you really need is decent Wifi coverage Airplay does the rest.

Or you could go back in time and just use an FM transmitter...

Time to find a new industry!
