Hi all,

I hope someone out there might be able to help me out on this.

I installed my BToe stick in my XPpro laptop (a fujitsu siemens) yesterday morning using the CD that came with it. I simply plugged in the stick then inserted the CD when it wanted the drivers and away it went. Within 2mins I was browsing files/images on my T630 no problem.

I was a happy bunny

Last night I decided to install the same stick into my desktop PC - due to having instability problems with the graphics card running with 2 HD and a CDRW I have unplugged the CDRom and therefore couldn't (easily) install from the CD supplied with the BToe. Off I went to the MSI site and downloaded the latest drivers.

I extracted the files and ran setup - all went well and after a few mins I had the Bluetooth icon in my system tray (obviously it was disabled). I went to the site listed in the MSI instructions and registered for my license file. When the code arrived I navigated to the 'svcpack' folder and ran BTFaeSec.exe, entered my serial number and it worked first time.

I then downloaded the SONY comms software and was able to do remote networking at 40Kbps via GPRS from my PC through my mobile - which was nice

So there you have it, a desktop running the latest drivers and a laptop with the old drivers - both able to see my T630. Was I happy? Oh no! I decided to get both computers running the latest version.

I copied the new build of drivers and utils across to my laptop and run Setup.exe. Away it went, removing old drivers, installing new ones, blah blah blah. When the install routine had finished I was left with the disabled Bluetooth icon. "No problem" I though as I went to run BTFaeSec.exe again using my license key.

I double click on BTFaeSec.exe and NOTHING

I use the keyboard and press enter on BTFaeSec.exe and NOTHING

I copy it again and NOTHING

I move BTFaeSec.exe to a simple path on my HD and NOTHING

I go to task manager and close any process the I don't need, click on BTFaeSec.exe and NOTHING

So I decide to do a system restore to 7:00 am, the time before I installed the CD that came with the BToe (i.e. roll back two installs) so I am left with a clean laptop.

I install the latest version again (with the Btoe connected/ disconnected and connected when the install says that it can't find it half way through), each time the install works fine, no errors - also no way of inputting my license code. Not once could I get BTFaeSec.exe to execute.

The last attempt I made last night to install did produce a little 'green circle' application on my task bar (I assume the install app put it there because it appeared after it had finished). But there was no way I 'focus' the app (if that is what it was), I tried ALT TAB and it wouldn't accept focus (when I thought I had focus on it, I tries to ALT SPACE and M to move it in case it was off my screen), there was nothing in task manager (apps). And obviously BTFaeSec.exe still didn't execute

I was wondering, since I have a working install on the PC and an almost working install on my laptop using the same physical device, if I could copy the files associated with the license between machines and the thing might work, what do you rekon?

Cheers

Davie

It's a shot. And since it's not working on the laptop, it couldn't hurt more.

I don't suppose you would happen to know which files are signed, or what I need to copy across would you?
