does anybody have advice on buying a Bluetooth GPS device for my iPaq 4150? I^m in Japan right now, so I I can^t really go up to a shop and expect them to be able to explain the devices to me in English. Not that there would be a shop which holds any PDA device within six hours of my village anyway. would have to end up buying overseas

In Japan you can probably find the Socket Bluetooth GPS.

Good unit, standard GPS, other O&M use the same model.

Thanks for your quick reply

actually, I really am six hours away from Tokyo, it would be easier for me to order it from overseas. Is there any reason you chose that brand over anything else?I had a look at the manufacturer, but I really don^t understand any of the specs.

I am going to Tokyo next month, but most likely, I will only find a few shops with a few random models.are there any features that I should demand?I could either go with a list of minimum specs and find anything that matches, or I could choose a model and buy online.

from what I have seen, GPS units seem to all say 6 hours minimum, unlike our PDAs which says something like up to eight hours. Why do they say minimum?most systems don^t come with a removable batt right ?

also, what is cold and warm fix?

I also saw NMEA-0183 on one of the Japanese map softwares. I know NMEA is some sort of output standard, but does the number after that means there are several versions? Meaning something terrible could go wrong if you have the wrong version on one of the devices

The Socket model is actually quite common - other manufacturers have similar products with very similar looks. I think they all have the same base hardware supplied by a single O&M.

If you want to know more about GPS, mapping solutions and more, have a look at GPS Passion.
