Hi,

My slingshot provided modem/router has died and I've replaced it with a netgear N300. I used to have a technicolor router setup as an additional access point, but I can't for the life of me get it to work with the netgear.

I've done a factory reset on the technicolor, so I'm at square one. Is anyone able to tell me what I need to do to get this working again?

Thanks

Just quickly, the first thing that comes to mind, is make sure DHCP is switched off in the Technicolor.

give the device a static IP address, turn the DHCP on the technicolour off, then connect one of its LAN ports to the LAN port on your other router

So using the configuration wizard on the Technicolor, I've set it to bridge mode (this is the only way I can work out how to get access to the DHCP setting without needing ISP details), and turned off DHCP, renamed the wireless SSID and password to the same as the netgear and connected the lan cable to a live network port (that I've confirmed has an internet connection) but the Technicolor still doesn't connect to the internet.

What am I missing?

What do you mean by

the Technicolor still doesn't connect to the internet.

If you mean the Internet light doesn't show up, it shouldn't so don't worry about it.

Can you confirm nothing else is connected to the Technicolor other than the LAN cable and power?

you can try connecting a device via eithernet to the technicolour and then ping the other router and something like 8.8.8.8 to see if its seeing the internet

Sorry that wasn't very clear,  I mean when I'm connected to the Technicolor (either via lan or wifi) I can't browse to any page, but devices on the netgear can.

I've got the power, a lan cable in port 4 to wall outlet hooked up to a patch panel/switch/netgear and another lan cable in port 1 connected to my laptop.

Edit:typo

i have the same one and have done the same thing with my network.

dont plug the modem into your current network, plug it into a PC/laptop to configure it. also replace the .2 in the links for what ever the address of your one is

login into the modem.
go to http://192.168.1.2/cgi/b/intfs/_intf_/ov/?be=0&l0=4&l1=2&name=LocalNetwork
click configure in the top right corner
disable IPV4, and Auto IP enabled, If it were me i would assign it a static IP address.

im pretty sure thats all i did for the network side of things

I've just noticed the netgear router is assigning IP addresses as 192.168.0.1 etc as opposed to to 192.168.1.1  would that have anything to do with it?

yes they are on a different subnet so no wonder its not working

they need to have the same first 3 octets, ie 192.168.1.xxx or 192.168.0.xxx

so assign the technicolour the first 3 octets that match the netgear, and give the technicolour a .2 as the last 3 digits
