I am about to relocate my telephone wall socket for my landline which I use only for plugging the modem router into.

Phone and internet are through the router naked broadband is it called?

Whilst I am at it is there a "better" wall socket or 'device" that is suppose to improve things or just stick to the bog standard telecom one?

Na just a standard BT will do fine. You could also use an RJ45 but there will be no performance difference.

Get a master filter installed if you haven't already. Otherwise disconnect all other jack points. And upgrade the cable between the demarcation point and your remaining jack point. With twisted pair cable such as cat 5. If it is not already twisted pair.
