Can anyone please help this is driving me mad!

I have a InstantPAN BTU01A Class 1 dongle for my PC using Widcomm 1.3.2.7 It installed fine and was working perfectly for several days with my palm 72.

Then one day I turned my pc on as normal and after boot up I was presented with a error box saying it was unable to start the bluetooth stack, since then I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times but it I keep getting the same message everytime I try to use bluetooth.

The only thing I had done the day before the problem is install a trial version of zone alarm suite but even with this shutdown I can't use bluetooth so I don't think its that.

Does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this?

Zone Alarm must be set to medium to Widcomm Bluetooth software to work. IF you remove Zone Alarm and the problem persists, perhaps this is a hardware problem? Try changing to another USB port, check if there's a LED on the dongle and if it's on now.

well I will try uninstalling zone alarm but when i try and use bluetooth when it is shut down it still doesnt work.

I have also tried using the dongle in different ports, the light comes on and windows see it and so does the BT Tray icon, but the BT stack just wont start.

And if you right-click the Bluetooth icon in the System Tray does it have the "Start / Stop" option or does it say "Bluetooth device not found"?

yes it does give me the option to start and stop the device.

I just uninstalled zonealarm and its working fine again. so it must be a problem with Zone alarms configuration. I have the settings to medium but the version of Zonealarm I am using is the suite with web filtering and antivirus, I never had this problem with the ordinary version so I will go back to that.

Thanks for your help!
