Hi, I am looking at buying via amazon - will this work with just a power adapter (ie I wont need a transformer)?

I was also going to get a 3 tb red drive but I think I will be too close to the customs limit right?

anything over $400nz including the shipping will likely incur fees from customs

together it looks like they are $432 including shipping and $398 without

Not sure about the adaptor, but if splitting the order to reduce customs exposure make sure you leave a day or so between orders, Sometimes Amazon helpfully combines orders....

I'm a Synology NAS enthusiast - I run 5 of them in my SOHO office (2-bay, 5-bay, & 8-bay).

All purchased in NZ.

Two comments:

Recommend the DS216se instead of the DS216j (similar price and appearance, but I have had some reliability issues with the j series)

There is little point in having a 2-bay NAS if you don't use two identical HDDs in it (the WD Reds are excellent - personally I prefer something bigger than 3TB)
