Hello all,

 

I have a Unifi Security Gateway running on Vodafone Fibre here and am very happy with it and recommended it to a mate.

 

He is on Spark Fibre and I set it up and it is unusable. Extremely slow internet with connection drops. I am using DHCP with Vodafone but I set up PPPoE on Spark as per their instructions.

 

From a bit of Googling it appears that the MTU settings may be causing the issues and MSS Clamping may need to be set to 1448.

 

Am I on the right track here? Can anyone confirm this setting will fix the problems? I will have to do this remotely via the old modem so it will be a bit of an exercise to set this so am wanting to confirm it before we spend some time on the phone resetting his connection.

My usg is default, and on spark ufb...it regularly reports my 100mpbs connection at 103 down, and 22 up.

Thanks David. Are you using pppoe to connect? I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the unit. It wouldn't even connect itself to the cloud controller.

Yes pppoe.  Spark as the username....and VLAN ID 10.

 

I had to look around to find that..but it was under the WAN network in the controller under networks.

OK. That's all the same. Thanks. Can you look at the USG settings under advanced and check the MSS Clamping setting? If yours is auto I will get the device replaced.

I have a few of these on Spark connections and they are all good. Make sure you have the latest firmware as I know some units shipped with a really bad firmware on them
