Greetings,

Well I am just getting started with Bluetooth and am not having much luck.

I have a Sony Ericsson T68i phone and a Dell Laptop with a Belkin F8T001 UBS Bluetooth adapter.

I have installed the Belkin SW and drivers on the laptop and everything seems fine. I am able to discover the SE T68i and pair with the laptop.

I start to get a little lost on setting up the various "services" like Serial Port. In order to synch the Outlook calendar do I use a serial port connection? What about downloading pics to the phone? What type of "service" do I use?

I am confused at to why there are multiple "com" ports available. The phone seems to have serial port 1 and serial port 2. I don't see anyway to determine how they are different. The laptop has a serial port set up on Com6 but when I set up the phone serial port is uses Com5. Is this expected behavior?

I have looked at some of the examples on this site but they are specific to certain other phones/USB adapters. Is there a generic guide that talks about the steps needed to connect one device to another?

Thanks in advance
TC

Hello!

If you can pair the devices and find services, that's a long way done! Usually the software instructions will tell you what service to use. In general, to talk to the mobile and sync or copy images you'll use the COM Ports. To sync follow the instructions in our Bluetooth Guides.

For image transfer, the Sony Ericsson software will work fine, using the same COM Port. In our guides we also show how to use the mobile as a modem. This use the DUN (Dial-up) service.

Thanks Mauricio,

Well now I have them paired and a serial connection going. The thing is that the serial connection keeps dropping and reconnecting. It's as if the signal is too weak. I can't tell where the problem is but it appears that one device, the phone or the Belkin adapter, may be faulty.

Now, how to figure out when end is bad??...lol

Cheers
TC

Does any one have an answer to the above question? I am dealing with the same issues.

Are you using the latest SE T68i firmware? It's been reported some flaky behavior in old versions of this phone.

You have to contact Sony Ericsson, and have the phone checked. Depending on where you are it can be checked and upgraded on the spot - if this is the case.

The last thing I can think of is Power Management. You can check the USB adapters for the Power tab (hit the Windows Key and Pause|Break key at the same time and change to Hardware, then click the Device Manager button.

Look for the Universal Serial Bus Controllers and check if there's a tab "Power Management". There'll be a checkbox "Allow the computer to turn off this device". Make sure it's not checked.

Greetings,

Sorry I hazven't responded in a bit. I too have a Sony T68i and it's on it's way back for firmware upgrades and a look-see by the repair guys.

I did discover that if the phones are paired and if you delete the paired device from the phone it does not automatically delete the pariing on the PC. You must manually go in and delete the pairing otherwise trying to "re-pair" the devices will fail. No devices will be detected. I suspect this may be a bug in the Widcomm drivers.

I also feel that the dropped connections may be a phone problem in that it always seemed like the BT signal from the phone was not very strong. I always had to have the phone relatively close to the PC for the connections to remain.

Cheers
