I have a similar problem to BigBlue007 (in another thread) with internet connections, and would really appreciate if anyone could shed some light on it.

I have a Sony Clie NX70VG (Palm OS5.0) with a Bluetooth MS, and a Siemens S55 mobile. My service provider is Optus in Australia.

I have the following settings:

CONNECTION:
Name: GPRS Bluetooth
Connect To: Modem
Device: Siemens S55
Dialing: TouchTone
Volume: Low

Details...
Speed: 115,200bps (also tried other speeds)
Flow Ctl: Off
Init String: at+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet.optus.net.au"

NETWORK:
Service: GPRS on Bluetooth
User Name: (mobile number)
Password: (not required)
Connection: GPRS Bluetooth
Phone: *99***1#

Details...
Connection type: PPP
Idle timeout: Never
Primary DNS: 202.139.83.3
Secondary DNS: 192.65.91.129
IP Address: Automatic

I have the latest BT drivers from Sony, and the above settings were provided from Optus and match the ones provided from Siemens. When I try to dial a connection, I get:-
Initializing
Dialing GPRS on Bluetooth
Signing on (hangs for several seconds, then...)
Error: PPP timeout (0x1231)

The network log says:-

LCP<-CfgAck
LCP<-CfgReq
LCP->CfgRej

My WAP from the phone works fine. The strange thing about all this is that I initially tested everything on IRDA (before buying the BT MS) and it also didn't work - until I put a semicolon at the end of the init string, and then internet worked! No-one understands why this worked, including Optus, who spent an hour and a half on the phone with me trying to help before giving up.

Anyway, I then bought the BT MS hoping that everything would work the same. Silly me. I tried the BT connection, and with the semicolon, it doesn't even dial successfully (just retries a couple of times), and without the semicolon, it gives the PPP error.

This has been driving me mad, and I'm considering taking the phone back and exchanging it for the Sony Ericsson T68i.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Pretty please!!

Have you tried this with a T68? The configuration seems ok. You can try without thew init string, since you have the *99***1# set.

I have a S55 here this week, and noticed the configuration (in the phone itself) is quite extensive. Perhaps the account #1 is not correctly setup (the *99***1# refers to an account in the phone)?

Hi Mauricio,

I haven't been able to test the T68i yet as I don't have access to one. I may look at going back to SonyStore (where I bought the BT MS) and seeing if I can try one out. Optus were not helpful with this.

I tried without the init string and the phone kept trying to dial and redial, and then errored with:-
Error:no carrier (0x1102)

I didn't know #1 referred to an account within the phone. Is there a way to view the settings of account #1?

I was able to try the internet on a Sony T68i and it seemed to work fine. Still no joy with the Siemens S55 though.
