I know there's a thread dating back to 2016 on 'best router' but it's 26 pages long and hard to find stuff in.

I'd be grateful if anyone could tell me if, how or why a new Spark Smart Modem RVR 9517 might be better for WiFi on Spark's new Max Fibre - compared to our old Huawei HG659b. We can use only Wifi for everything in this house and we have the usual domestic devices. Streaming is a major activity. Thanks.

The Spark Smart modem doesn't have the same limit on number of simultaneous DHCP clients that the HG659b has, and definitely has more powerful wifi. I always ran into problems with too many devices with the HG659b - any more than 20 seemed to kick some off. The Smart modem has been very reliable since the firmware was updated, and has great wifi reach.

The new Spark modem has mesh support too.

Thank you both.
