Trying to use tablet to access internet using phone data.

In theory, turn on phone Bluetooth, then turn on tablet Bluetooth.  Tap on phone ID and Pair .... code numbers come up that match so tap pair on tablet too.

Both devices say 'paired' and 'connected' but only stays that way for about 3 seconds, then both show as previously connected.

Any ideas please?

@Rickles Use Personal HotSpot not Bluetooth. PHS will use Wi-Fi faster and more reliable

Hot-spot and cable tethering are better (and easier) for sure, BUT I am preparing a demonstration showing all possibilities.

What would you want to try and prove by doing it over bluetooth though? It seems like more of a hassle than anything.

No-one does it over BT anymore, that's donkeys years ago.  Why demo a capability no-one would ever use? All you've done is connect your two devices over BT.  You still need to find an option to allow the internet to be accessible. That's buried deeper and deeper these days, and not available on some devices at all.

My Samsung A54 and Tab S7 have Bluetooth tethering in settings but it only works if wifi on phone is off ie you have to tether off the phone's  mobile connection.

@Bung ... that was exactly how I tried to do it, but the connection holds only for a few seconds.

Don't demo Bluetooth as you are only going to cause confusion! PHS is only required

Thanks again all for your views, but I'm still intrigued as to why I'm getting the fault.

Both phone and tablet operate via Bluetooth for other devices e.g. headphones, keyboard etc. no problems.

Do the specs for both devices support internet access by Bluetooth tethering?

The manuals give that impression with appropriate instructions.

Just because your devices are talking to each other does not necessarily mean internet sharing will work if the device is not routing as a hotspot. As I said earlier all you've done is point to point connected 2 devices. It's like they are on an internal LAN with no internet gateway and DNS.
