Hello all,

Using Windows XP, I am unable to select the COM port for the Serial Profile in Widcomm BT software. The dropdown list is empty. Furthermore, the button "Add Serial Service" is grayed out. Tried installing and uninstalling thousand times. Have adminstrator rights etc etc

No actual COM ports in use in my system. When looking at the available ports (through printers and faxes tab in control panel) I see many COM ports (2-13) that cannot be configured or deleted.

Probably the problem is in XP itself. Anyone recognizes these problems? Solutions/suggestions?

Thanx!

Wouter

You say no ports are in use? Correct? Then uninstall the Widcomm software AGAIN! Then on your WinXP go to Control Panel | System | Hardware | Device Manager | View | and Show hidden devices Click on Ports (COM & LPT) and you will see your list of ports Start at the bottom and work your way up. Right click on each port and then select uninstall. When you have your ports free back to COM3 then shut down your system and remove your bluetooth adapter if it is a USB device. Then Start your PC back up. Install the Widcomm software that came with your device. Plug your device in and you should be ready to go. Note that the new software will only work with the devices they where made for :(
