Is it possible to connect a USB wifi device (e.g. Vodafone's vodem/T-stick) to a router, maybe using a USB-to-ethernet/LAN adapter?

Hi, yes you can with suitable routers such as this or this, the latter will take USB or PCMIA devices, the other PCMIA only

Cyril,

Thanks for answer. Are you saying the router must support HSDPA for this to work?

I was thinking that, for example, Vodafone's 'vodem' is essentially the same as a Woosh modem, and therefore could be connected to any old router (using a USB to ethernet adapter), and thence to other computers?

You require a router that supports a WAN modem via USB, there are various routers that have USB ports that only support printer services, but not a WAN connection via that USB port, hence unsuitable for doing what you want.

The first device I linked will support a usb modem like the vodem, or a 3G PCMCIA card.

A USB>Ethernet adaptor will not do it either as the USB part is a client port not a server.
