I have used my Nokia 6310i as a modem and it has worked ok and upgraded the phone to take advantage of EDGE speeds. I have found that this new Nokia 6230B is not a drop in replacement for the 6310i and was wondering if anyone was interested in helping me get up and running?

The problem as I see it is the phone does not establish a GPRS connection and the PDA just times out. I can provide all the settings that worked with the 6310i but will do so if someone responds to this post to assist me.

I am also not sure if the PDA and the 6230B are pairing properly. One screen in the PDA says everything is ok while in another screen, the 6230B fails the test in the PDA. I suspect I will need to get another driver installed in the PDA to handle the 6230B; generic GSM phone does appear to work.

The Nokia 6230B works perfectly with the Jabra BT earpiece btw.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

The Nokia 6230 is not a good Bluetooth pair for most PDA models, but in special for HP ones. Check this article.

If I am not mistaken the latest Bluetooth drivers/ROM updates in some iPAQ models don't have this problem. I am not sure about the UX50 though.

Just to let you know I purchased the Mobile High Speed application for Palm OS devices from a company in Berlin called Nova Media http://www.novamedia.de

Package costs 20 euros and it appears to have solved my problems. They support the 6230B Nokia phone for except for tap dialing and tap SMS functions. Their package appears to support many popular wireless networks world wide and many phones from all the main GSM manufacturers. Comment re the 6230B is that the Bluetooth stack has an error that Nokia needs to fix.
