does anyone know where i can grt a guide on how to set up a new wi fi network for file and broadband sharing between a laptop and desktop both on win xp pro

Hi philly101,

I'd have a look at Ikehiker's WiFi guides. Here's the direct link to ad hoc networks:

but if you back up to the general introduction, http://wifi.aximsite.com/ you may find useful stuff there too.
