I'm new to the bluetooth game. I just bought a VX8100 but don't have bluetooth on my PC. I wanted to buy an adapter, but I wanted see if I can avoid all the connection problems people seem to be having on the forum by buying a specific kind of adapter (eg difference b/t dongle vs internal adapater, diff b/t v1.1 & v1.2...etc). Am I taking a risk by buying a generic dongle off ebay or something?

Welcome to Geekzone,

I got a CSR dongle, works great.

Cuts the signal by about 30 or 40% if i mount it inside my case compared to using a usb extension cable and hiding near the top of my computer desk.

In general the CSR based ones are good. I prefer Belkin, Bluetake and TDK - although not the cheapest ones, but always with the latest software.

You want to have an external adapter and the best one in my opinion is the TDK - it comes with a lead so you can actually have it positioned anywhere, not only in the back of your computer or laptop.
