Okay... I"m on Win XP SP1 with a Belkin F8T001. trying to connect to a Nokia 3650. I'm using the drivers that came with the F8T001 (1.2.2.16) and when ever I try and use the PC Suite to transfer large files from my phone about half way through I lose the connection and I have to start all over again... never getting the file off the phone! The file is about 6mb.

I have everything set up right as far as I can tell.... gone through all the different forums and tried all the different tricks... nothing works. The M-Router com ports match those in the BT settings, and I've tried setting them at 9 and above.

I have the same set up on my home computer the only difference is that is a Win2k box, and it works fine.

Is there something you need to set up differntly on XP that would cause it to drop the connection after a few minutes or so?
Or is this something to do with the old driver set?
thanks

How is the CPU usage on this Windows XP machine? Sometimes Bluetooth drops connections when the CPU usage goes over a magic number - like 95% for more than 10 seconds or so...

well... I'm on a P4 2.4 sometimes I"m just working away, so there might be a chance that could happen, but I have also had it happen to me while I was just sitting there with nothing else running. So I'm not sure if that could be it.

I have an AMD Athlon 2.1 and I've seen it happen twice during some high CPU usage. I've never tried big files to my Nokia 3650, but will try later tonight and see how it goes.

I've done some big file transfer between my laptop and my desktop with no problems - some files were 2MB, and total of 30MB, but lots of small files.

It's been a while since I've transferred files (outside of sync'ing with Outlook) using PC Suite on my 3650. I use Epoc's File Manager utility for this purpose and easily transfer large size files. My PC is on XP Pro.

But wanted to see if maybe PC Suite had some limit on file size, so transferred a couple of files from 6 to 10 mb with its utility. All transferred with no problems.

I assume you're using the 16mb memory card that came with the phone. Do you have a lot stored on the card?? You can check memory usage by going into your "Extras" folder and open the "Memory" icon. What's the free space?

I tend to transfer files back and forth from work and home on the 16 mb card. I just hate burning a CD with 3mbs on it.... so the thought was to just use the phone. Right now I have over 10mb free.
It's one of those tings that soem times it works and sometimes it doesn't.... guess if I want somethign better, I should just get a USB pocket drive!

thanks for the help

Can't think of anything else that may be causing your transfer problems outside of earlier factors discussed in this thread.

I also use my memory card (64 mb) as a "piggyback solution" to transfer files back and forth as needed and it works great. An alternate transfer solution is Epocware's File Manager for the 3650. IMO, it's a great utility and provides excellent detail on and management of your phone's files.

It's installed on your PC and utilizes PC Suite as the physical (or should I say virtual :) conduit (nothing is installed on the phone itself, so great for conservation of memory). You don't have to launch PC Suite, just have the programs installed. Its interface has the look and feel of Window's Explorer with the familiar tree structure and drag and drop file copy, delete, rename, etc. functionality.

For less than $15 (using your Geekzone member discount with Handango), it's a great deal. You can try it out before you purchase, so no obligation. From this website's home page, follow the links to Handango and be sure to use your member's discount should you purchase.

Let me know how it goes!

Chris
