Hey guys

Im experiencing a very annoying problem with my home connection, I am regularly losing my connection to the internet and the exchange with a dlink 504g on vodafones network.

This usually happens completely randomly, nothing triggers it, I have tried using different jack points in my house and swapping the line filters around, but no luck, no matter what line filter or jack point I use im still getting random disconnects.

I can usually set it right if I fiddle around with the line filters and adsl cables, usually I can get a connection back straight away if I plug the router directly into the wall, then after it has connected it seems to work fine when its back in the line filter...  for a while..

I had been using it in another wall point for a few days and it seemed fine, but today It started dropping out again every five minutes or so..

Im not really sure whether this is a router problem, or has my house wiring gone dodgey?
Any ideas?

Thanks guys
Jay

Line filters are generally for phone devices only to cut off the upper frequency from interferring with the ADSL.

The router should be getting the raw signal (straight into the wall) anyway Unless you have a phone needing to run off the same point, which is where the adsl/phone combo ones come in.

In saying that, the 504/604 you will notice have been replaced with a Generation 2 with a power unit and chipset overhaul due to drop out/sync issues. I went though similar with my 604T until I gave up after the 4th replacement and went dynalink.
