I recently bought a Netgear MR814v2 Wireless DSL / Cable router. It was simple to setup and get going. My problem is after about 10 or 15 mintues of use, I lose signal. When I first Login I have an excellant signal all through my house but after a few mintues I lose complete signal. I then have to wait and it reconnects. Has anyone had this time a problem? I already checked for any firmware upgrades but I have the lates one. It wouldn't be so bad if I would just surf the web but I am usually connect to my Linux boxes through and X-term window and it kicks me complete out. UGHHH, anyone else had this type of issue? Let me add that I have a Dell True mobile 1500 wireless B card. Please let me know. James

I also just purchased this router. I'm trying to get it to work with an iBook and an Airport card. It does, but if I set the encryption to 128-bit it slows everything down and seems to drop the connection - not the ethernet connections, just the wireless ones. If I turn off all encryption it works well, though I assume I would want to use the encryption. I haven't tried 64-bit, maybe it's half as slow.

I just found this in another forum. I installed this firmware and now my iBook's connection seems to be constant. It's v. 5.02

Thanks!! I downloaded the new firmware, the 5.02. I will install it tonight. WHen you go to netgear's site, it says that the latest one is 5.01, I wonder why they don't post 5.02. I had to get it from the guy from the other post. He is nice enough to put it on his web server, if anyone is interested in the 5.02 firmware, below is the link:

The forum link to his thread is:
