Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I have read the very helpful guides but with no joy, so this is my last resort.

Have my BT connection fron Clie NX73 working well for Hotsync.

However sharing my Broadband connection to the Clie is turning me bald.

The clie device hangs on Signing on. This i assume means it has connected to my PC local network but cannot then get internet access. I have added the extra script lines but just get the following error message:

Error:PPP timout (0x1212)

Th etouble is I can see no IP or Subnet mask addresses in my internet connection as I have a dynamically allocated IP address (UK NTL Broadband).

Also I have a network bridge which has appeared....why. Can I use this (and allocated an IP address to it) an then connect my BT connection to the bridge? If so how?

Or am I asking too much and sharing this type of connection is impossible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

John

The Palm hanging with the timeout indicates some problems when assigning the addess.

Things to check (if you haven't looked in the troubleshooting guide):

  • Turn all firewalls off, including the Windows XP one. If you have Zone Alarm you might even consider removing it. When this is working you can then install again, and configure it properly
  • make sure you have the latest patch for the Palm Tungsten as per our guides
  • make sure you entered a script exactly like in our guides (including uppercase and/or lowercase)
  • make sure the Bluetooth adapter has IP Address 192.168.0.1, no gateway and DNS is the same as defined by your ISP
  • make sure the current network you have (your computer, router or ADSL model) is not using 192.168.0.x addresses, if it is you'll have to change this network to another range, like 192.168.2.x
  • make sure the Bluetooth configuration is like this (right-click the Bluetooth icon in the System Tray, Advanced configuration, change tabs to Services, select Network Access:

  • Check firewalls again!

Many thanks for the reply. Have checked all the things in the trouble shooting guide. I have a Sony Clie NX73 should I try the Palm Tngsten patch still??

***make sure you entered a script exactly like in our guides (including uppercase and/or lowercase) - ----I have done this

****make sure the Bluetooth adapter has IP Address 192.168.0.1, no gateway and DNS is the same as defined by your ISP ----- Have done the first bit but no DNS is present in the box.

*****make sure the current network you have (your computer, router or ADSL model) is not using 192.168.0.x addresses, if it is you'll have to change this network to another range, like 192.168.2.x -----Have checked this too.

Am desparate to get this working so your continued help is greatly appreciated

You'll have to configure the Network Bridge on Windows XP to have the Bluetooth adapter as part of the destination points.

Also, use your ISP DNS on the Bluetooth adapter address (running IPCONFIG /ALL should tell you what is it).

Just to be sure, when I say Bluetooth adapter I mean the virtual ethernet adapter created by Bluetooth in "My Network Places" properties...
