Followed the instructions on this site but am still having problems with my 5450-billionton USB Bluetooth dongle (sw ver. 1.4.7)- WinXP Home setup. Everything worked out fine until I did a restart on my desktop:

a) when my desktop restarted, ActiveSync would not run and a message would pop up: "TCP/IP protocol not installed";
b) if I go to my Ipaq's Bluetooth Manager and tap "Activesync via Bluetooth" it just says "connecting" but won't sync;
c) I connect to the internet using cable and have a dial up ISP as backup. When I click on Internet Explorer, it asks me if I want to use my dial up ISP to connect to the internet. If I click cancel, it won't connect to the internet. My connections are all messed up.

Uninstalled the bluetooth software and did a restart but got the same results as above. Good thing there's system restore so I was able to get things back to normal.

Been doing this whole thing for the past 3 days and no success even if I closed down the firewall and antivirus software. Any kind soul who can help me out?

Is this software 1.4.7 from Billionton? Could it be a problem with your Windows XP install?

Yes, it's the software that came from Billionton's CD; been using the XP sw on my desktop for more than a year now. What could be wrong?

Well, I was able to make things work....for a while. Activesync finally did its thing, and I was able to surf the net (only when AS was up and running). BUT....when I turned off AS and re-started it, the desktop said something about how critical component services were missing and that I should restart the device. Tried to go on as I was still able to surf the net (though AS wouldn't sync anymore; it just said "connected"). BTW, though I could now surf via my Ipaq, my desktop's internet cable connection won't; it's like the Ipaq has taken over the desktop's net browsing abilities. I then restarted the desktop and Ipaq, and bam! there it goes again: "TCP/IP protocol not installed" under the heading Mobile Device Properties. Aaargh!!

Really strange. But since this was installed before and it's not working now, I'd look for things recently installed. Any new softwares or security updates?

Thanks for the help. I only installed the recent XP updates....just to clarify re my previous post, it's the XP OS that I've been using for more than a year now w/out any hitches but I installed the billionton software only this week and it (Billionton sw) has been giving me problems (sorry if I didn't explain things properly)...

Dunno if my cable internet connection's use of a dynamic IP address is the one that's partially causing this...??
