Ok, here is the deal. It's messy.
I've got both ActiveSync - PPC (AS further on) and HotSync - Palm (HS further on) installed.
In theory, AS should use USB or COM4, which is a BlueTooth (BT further on) port. HS is configured to use COM1, which is the physical port.
Problem is, AS is the first of the three to load up, and as the BT drivers aren't loaded yet, it dismisses COM4 as nonexistent and defaults to COM1.
Then BT kicks in, and I can now chose the correct port for AS.
Problem is, AS already locked up on COM1, and won't release it (at least is the error HS gives me, saying COM1 is already in use).
Any hints?
Was I clear?

HELP!

Interesting stuff... What kind of processor (speed) you have? The Bluetooth stack should load first, as a service, then the BT System Tray. Perhaps initialisation is taking longer?

Hehe. Forgot to any hardware specs :D
Ok, running WinXP Pro on an Athlon 1700+ (1.45Ghz). Isn't that speedy, but can't be called slow either. The BT dongle is a Hawking Tech one. Works.

I'm not sure, but I *think* BTStack comes ahead of ActiveStink in the registry. I don't know if services are loaded in the order they're in the registry.

An alternative would be (if your Palm network access to the computer works) use Network Hotsync instead (doesn't work for Palm m130 and some models though, because network Hotsync was removed from the ROM).

It's an old Palm III. The OS is updated to Palm 4.something.

I don't know how to do a network sync, and yet, don't think I can...

Ok, I see... Not the using the Palm on Bluetooth itself, but how the ports are assigned.
